How to Plan a Facebook Ads Budget
A budget plan should show what you intend to spend, what has actually been spent and which costs sit outside the advertising platform.
Define the scope and planning period
Start with the campaign objective, market and period you want to review. Decide who can approve spending changes and when the plan will be checked. Avoid treating the available account balance as a spending target. Your plan should reflect the resources you are prepared to commit and the campaign work you can manage.
Separate the cost categories
- Planned advertising spend for each campaign or platform.
- Account setup and service fees, where applicable.
- Creative production or other agreed campaign costs.
- Payment or currency conversion charges, if relevant.
- Any additional costs that still need confirmation.
Ask the service team which costs are included and which are billed separately. Record the billing currency and the source of each figure. A clear separation helps prevent a service fee from being mistaken for money available to spend on ads.
Track planned and actual spending
Create columns for date, campaign, currency, planned spend, actual spend and related fees. Add the reporting source, update time and person responsible. Keep funding transactions in a separate section so you can distinguish money added to an account from advertising costs reported by the platform.
Make comparisons on the same basis
Check the date range, time zone and currency before comparing reports. Record any adjustments or conversion method you use. If two sources disagree, preserve both figures and investigate the difference rather than changing a value without explanation. Keep a note for transactions or costs that have not yet been confirmed.
Review changes deliberately
Choose a review schedule that matches your campaign activity. Record the reason, approver and time whenever the budget changes. Discuss funding requirements and service terms before moving money. A budget sheet supports clearer decisions; it does not predict results. AgencyCrowns can discuss account requirements and applicable fees once your campaign plan is available.
